Re: Computer orders

WE have mandatory computer orders. Charting is still on paper, but orders must be done on the computer.

The program is absolutely cumbersome, unwieldy, and difficult to use. There is no way to correct errors....if you don't specify the starting date of a med order, you can't correct it, can't delete just that order....must delete all and start all over. You have to search all over for meds/doses etc.

As someone who uses computers on a daily basis, and considers herself pretty computer literate, I am absolutely astounded at the primitive nature of these programs. It's a little like playing Pong.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
