The old red rubber ones would need replacement just cause they stank to you know where!

The new silicone ones rarely get smelly like that and last for years.

I have a patient who is a diabetic who has had a pessary for the last 15-17 years (I don't recall if she came to me my first, second or third year here). She has been evaluated by several urologists over the years and the opinion of her bladder function was and is that any surgery would likely render her needing intermittent straight cath. I have used a number of different pessaries - currently the incontinence dish with knob is doing the best at keeping the cuystocele up and allowing her to void fairly normally.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
