If request for C/S is an acceptable medical indication to ACOG, then it should come as no surprise that epidural by request is the same. The ethical issue of witholding pain relief is significant. One could use narcotics but note the opinion specifically says epidual. The analogy for me is to say, "I don't want to take NSAID's for my pelvic pain so don't deny me surgery". My crystal ball says that hysterectomy by request is next. News at 11. JK

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
