I've used 100mcgs PO for term inductions with wonderful success until they 'wrote' a protocol omitting oral usage. I've heard of 400-800mcgs po used in IUFDs.

We have a G1 at 29 weeks gestation with a fetal demise. She will be back later today to start IOL. The uterus is 23 weeks size.

We plan to use cytotec. The obstetrician I work with has left the dosage and route of administration up to me. In the past I've used 100 mcg vaginally q 6 hrs., but I've spoken to others who have had just as good results with p.o. cytotec.

Any recommendations?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
