Bob

I don't see it as only two options - but condoms aren't the most reliable choice for contraception. The longer than one paragraph discussion I have with the patient covers much more.

We happen to be in a society that has chosen to have government and insurance involvement with a lot of this stuff. It is my opinion that we need reliable and accessible contraceptive measures available. It is less expensive to ALL of us if we can diminish the number of unintended pregnancies - as well as other consequences of sexual intercourse.

I don't think our government should be promoting and abstinence is the only thing you can discuss and get paid for poilcy. We can't force the issue of sexuality under a rug by saying "Don't do it!"

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
