Very effective positioning. I usually did them in the right or left lateral Sims position.. Dan R. Daniel Braun, MD "If everybody likes you, you've got to be doing something wrong." Quite a few, especially at non office hours. What I meant was that there were periods when I personally did the great majority of scalp samplings at office hours (+ some nights + some weekend days) for several months in a row. An average of 1 - 2 a day was normal for that historical period so a lifetime total of 500 is not astonishing at all. I haven't done 500 myself but if I had subspecialized in obstetrics (instead of operative gynecology as is the case) I certainly would have. Mats Bergstrom, MD Ob Gyn South Hospital Stockholm PS A note regarding the scalp sampling procedure: To make it as easy for the patient as possible, if she is in the bed "resting" stage of labor when the need for it arises, I often do it kneeling on the floor with her lying on the preferred side in foetal position with the relevant part protruding outside the edge of the bed.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
