No - the abdomen was not explored as part of the herniorrhaphy.

After getting the path report, the surgeon (in a multispecialty group) asked a med student working in the gyn department to ask a gyn to get back to her (the surgeon) about what the next step might be. The surgeon knew I was the patient's gyn doc.

The next thing that happened was a nurse from the gyn dept called the patient to say - "We have your US scheduled to evaluate your ovarian cancer"

Needless to say - the surgeon was unhappy that no-one had gotten back to her and that the patient was communicated with in this manner!

I'll post the final results and path soon...

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
