Re: OCP's and Anticardiolipin antibodiesFrom: Anna Meenan, MD (annam@uic.edu)Mon Jul 9 15:29:43 2001
But if she's never been pregnant and never had a blood clot she can't by definition have apa syndrome, and I can't find much that says whether COCP's are safe if she just has positive anticardiolipin antibodies and nothing else. I've sent for records from the rheumatologist who diagnosed her. I'm not sure even what her titer of anticardiolipin ab was. My gut feeling is she should not take them (mainly because I would not take them if I was her.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
