Re: 66% Induction RateFrom: Dr Don Miller (drmiller@aol.com)Tue May 29 07:47:16 2001
>i am starting to do more work in an l & d where one lone ob - so far - has >a 66% induction rate this year - >i am going to ask for prospective induction reviews Unless you are the department chair, your request will probably not be well-received as the practice and political dynamics at the L&D have allowed this rate to occur in the first place. It's likely that there is some unspoken agreement among those that have worked there longer than you. IMHO, if you get the dept chair to agree, retrospective (?monthly) bar charts of all providers' rates distributed every month can do a lot to lower such rates especially when there is one outlier. Be careful, you may be perceived as a sanctimonius (like a lot of us on this list) outsider and the docs already there may turn their sights on someone who doesn't fit into their view of normal (e.g. a doc who wears black leather jackets, has piercings or wears chrome jewelery, or rides a Harley!)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
