I believe that betty has been on & off this list for a number of years - she's been quiet recently! -----Original Message----- From: Paul Prior MD [mailto:pprior@clover.net] Sent: 29 May 2001 05:52 To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: Re: Within or outside the standard of care - Long On Mon, 28 May 2001 22:45:14 -0500, brommel@mindspring.com (Betty Rommel, MD, PhD) wrote:
>Do you really believe your own propaganda? or are you attempting to Betty - I believe you are a newbie to this list. I haven't seen any posts from you before you cracked about another physician's spelling earlier. As such, I'm a bit surprised at your absolute lack of manners. Just because you have a dual degree doesn't mean you get to be twice as annoying as everyone else. It is not your place to tell me what my "job" is. And your word choice ("propaganda") not only silly, it is outright offensive. And to further point out what an ass you are making of yourself, I have a very low induction rate - I would be willing to make a bet that it's probably less than yours. I was merely pointing out that the practice dynamics are different in different care delivery situations. Perhaps you might enlighten us as to your practice experience - ever been outside a tertiary care center?
>It's enlightening to see how quickly the modern doctor-patient bond Indeed it is discouraging to see how quickly people will switch care, but that doesn't negate the visits I get to my office when people are "ob shopping" and they tell me to my face on our first meeting how much they hated the last group practice they were at because of the "lottery" at time of delivery. I actually relate to patients the pluses and minuses of group vs. solo practice, as I've been in both. There clearly are benefits of each, but your self-righteous tone indicates you probably haven't had much objectivity in your assement of the "cherished" solo doc.
>If convenience is what you & your patients truly seek, then tap & I'll say it plainly - either learn some manners, or why don't you move on elsewhere.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
