How to treat menopausal women with benign ovarian tumor?

In our hospital total hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy are generally done when a menopausal woman with benign ovarian tumor were suspected. However I don't think hysterectomy is necessory to these women. I think bilateral adnexectomy is enough unless she also have some uterine problems. Can any one who can tell me what will you do in your hospital and why? Could you suggest some publications that can verify my opinion?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
