Re: Any good suggestion to decrease the Caesarean rate?

I think in Brazil it is even higher, ~75% if I remember correctly, at least for those who can pay. The question you have to answer for yourself is, "Is cesarean section on demand a procedure I want to be involved with?" If not, send them somewhere else.

The question I wonder about is, who in China encourages them to have cesarean sections by advocating it as a safer procedure for mom and/or baby? Education is the key. Unfortunately, if your patients in China are like mine in the USA, they get the majority of their information/misinformation from unsubstantiated, anecdotal sources - friends, family, lay press and pseudo experts, which makes our jobs even harder because we then have to discredit the other sources and somehow make them believe that we have their best interests in our hearts. Pretty tough sell!! Good luck!!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
