You're missing the boat here, Art. Remember who GAVE you your license... basically the State Legislature. They incorporate the State Medical Board, who gives out the licenses. Any rules and regulations the Board wants, it sends to the Legislature to pass as laws.

Your license BELONGS to, or is GIVEN by, or is SUBJECT to the State legislature. So if they want to regulate it, they can.

The Congress giveth, and the Congress taketh away.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
