Although best avoided at any stage of pregnancy I believe there is no evidence of harm from tetracyclines taken in the early first trimester.

i´m confronted with a 25 y old patient, who got pregnant after 18 months. following a prescription by her dermatologist she started a tetracycline therapy for acne. She come to my office at 9 weeks of gestation after a 5 weeks therapy with minocycline, 100mg per day. she started the therapy more or less the day of conception! so far the echography is normal, growth and morphology! has anybody experienced a comparable setting and could report about pregnancy- and baby-outcome?? informations and advices on that subject would be a great help for my patient, her baby and me. thank you!!
