GYN: pituitary removal due to craniopharyngioma

A patient in for her annual told me that her 9 YO daughter had surgery for a craniopharyngioma, and that her pituitary was removed. The child is doing well on replacement that includes cortisone, thyroid, and DDAVP, which is for ADH replacement. Later, growth hormone will be added.

I'm heading to the books, and thinking hard about this one, but would appreciate anyone's thoughts about puberty, hormonal replacement vs. FSH/LH, ovulation induction and fertility later in life, etc.

Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
