They actually are pushing for a hysterectomy, which I could again live with, but frankly think that it is overkill for sure. However, their feelings are motivated by the real issue of pre-existing illness.

Any thoughts? >>

I don't know about RA or immunosuppressives... But with women with ESRD or the possibility thereof, or people who may be on heparin or anything which may cause bleeding, thrombocytopenia, etc, etc, etc... I JUMP at the chance to do a hyst. After all, when they are in the ICU and start with vaginal bleeding, "who ya gonna call?"

So I look at it as possibly a VERY preventative surgery, all things considered (in patients with an appropriate history suggestive of possible future bleeding diathesis).

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
