Re: Resistant Trich?

I have had several of these "resistant" infections in the past - all resolved with persistent treatment.

Suggested approach: ...diagnose and treat per usual ...no intercourse in interim ...see patient at conclusion of treatment

At that time I will see trich again, although in much lesser numbers. If that is the case then proceed to ...Metronidazole douche or vaginal gel preparations ...longer course of oral Metronidazole

Each of my 2 or three cases resolved with this approach.

Based on these few numbers, it is my feeling that these are most likely partial/incomplete treatments, and not resistant organisms, as they have responded to longer regimen.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
