cervical cancer and HPVFrom: ladd@acsu.buffalo.eduMon Apr 9 14:15:43 2001
I am a nursing student at the University of Buffalo currently interning at a GYN clinic. I know that there is a correlation between the HPV virus, especially types 16, 18, and 31, and cervical cancer. I was wondering if there is any way to test women for the above types, upon diagnosis of HPV, in order to determine their risk for later developement of cervical cancer? If these tests are available why are they not commonly practiced? Jodi Ladd University at Buffalo Nursing Student Ladd@acsu.buffalo.edu

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
