The real reason for doing it as a classical C/S was simply access to the uterus. We were operating through a large subcostal incision. It was quite a stretch to do it through the incision we had and there was no way we could reach the lower uterine segment without T-ing the incision or making another suprapubic incision. Neither seemed like reasonable options to me.
