Re: A new poll!From: Douglas Krell (djkrell@ix.netcom.com)Tue Mar 20 14:40:25 2001
I would definately talk to your partner. Otherwise I would counsel the patient that there has been little response to efforts to induce labor. I would give her the following options: 1) return in labor within the next week provided antenatal testing is OK. 2) C-section in a week if antenatal surveilance is OK. 3) C-section ASAP if she is willing to accept the small risk of transient fetal respiratory difficulty. I would consider tapping her for fetal pulmponary maturity. I rarely do that, but in this case there may be lots of amniotic fluid and you may need to cover your tracks carefully in this situation of reversing another doctors plan of action.... and always with the patient's informed consent.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
