Re: Gel, Pit, & VBAC tragedyFrom: RModugno@aol.comWed Feb 28 20:00:05 2001
Can only go on what is reported here. Labor and delivery nurses inexperienced. Nurses blamed for lack of MD attentiveness? Prostaglandin gel not contra-indicated. Obstetrician not in immediate attendence. Vbac on pit should not be attended by GP ( my humble opinion) or non-attended as in this case. VBAC on pitocin 5 to 8X higher risk of rupture. What then Gloria, is the exact point of this post? Perhaps it would have been safer to attempt a home VBAC? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
