The difference is that the attorneys have not allowed a third party into the picture. We have screwed ourselves by allowing insurance companies to dictate our practices and billing. If we all had enough balls, we would all tell them where to get off. The problem is there is always a weenie down the street that will continue to accept insurance...

Lynn Here are the CPT Codes fro Phone consultations:

99371

Physician phone consultation

99372

Physician phone consultation

99373

Physician phone consultation

Furthermore, there is no RVU listed for them. The insurers will not pay for these codes either.

However if you call your Attorney, the clock starts clicking and you do get charged.

So figure out the system

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
