Today I was expecting to just catch a baby because the mother was a P3 going from 5 cm to full dilation in an hour or so and it should have taken but 5 minutes. But she insisted on the squatting position and of course could not push effectively.

However the CTG was reassuring all the time and because she is a colleague (Pediatrician) I just waited for the baby which after 25 minutes obliged. And was caught, of course :-)-O

The midwife was seriously busy with protection of the perineum, like most of them are in Germany, and it tore, anyway, like it usually does, anyway.

And the moral of the story? I don't really know :-)-O

What I usually do after they have pushed for a while is, to ask them to return to the prone position and deliver them :-)-O

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
