Re: Advice on refuting claims of negligence in Birth injury

Having read the appeal court decision in the case from the web-page, I am left with the impression that Nathanson is very much a hired gun.

We certainly don't have experts like that over here!

I have to say though that simply lecturing to lawyers doesn't make on a hired gun. I have taken part in programmes to give lawyers the basics of obstetrics, simply so they can understand what a case is about. I am due to lecture to a firm of defendant lawyers on Wednesday on the subject of risk management in O&G. I am no hired gun!

I had an immediate boot-up of this article via the link. It is interesting that the plaintiff's expert witness , Dr Nathanson, has been associated with

New York trial lawyers specializing in bad baby cases as far back as the 70's-80's. I attended a "course" entitled "Medical Malpractice- the Brain Damaged Baby" in San Francisco, sponsored by New York Law Press.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
