I agree completely. Evidence of board certification or re-certification in a recognized board, e.g., ABOG, within the last 3 - 5 years should be sufficient evidence for any state medical licensing board of continuing education for re-licencure purposes.

By the way, there are multiple very easy methods for getting CME hours. For example, if one has access to JAMA (one does not even have to be a member of the AMA), one can get 48 category I hours each year just by reading three of the 6 - 9 offered articles each week and completing and FAXing or mailing in a simple one page form. No charge, either.

Maybe ACOG or the Green or the Gray journals should do the same thing. There should be enough interesting articles each month to allow awarding up to 4 - 8 hours each.

In NH the year you get certed or recerted gives you 150 hours of CME credit
- just send a copy of the certificate or the notice that you passed.

In NH the year you get certed or recerted gives you 150 hours of CME credit - just send a copy of the certificate or the notice that you passed. It should also be recognized for those awards - in my opinion.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
