That's a fine statement for a professor working out of a medical center, but many of us work in a different world. If we didn't believe that delivery in our facilities was safe and saw the terrible outcomes predicted by these studies, we would be out of business and moving to the city to join you. One of the problems with ACOG's recommendations and the directions it is pushing us is that the studies are done in the medical centers - which is obviously the only place they can be done. However, the populations you see are quite different from mine - both socioeconomically and in most other ways. I would also venture to say that the even though private Obs, such as myself may not be with our patients all the way through labor, we manage our patients with the help of experienced nurses as well if not better than medical students and residents under the direct control of the professors.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
