gender differences

I have enjoyed the recent discussion of this topic. We went on about it a few months back with recruitment issues. This will be a good one to follow if it gets to a court.

With losing patients to another doctor, regardless of the other doctor's gender, it does take a toll on one's ego. Yet it is more annoying if there is something you cannot change, unless you go the Dr. Renae Richards route!

Probably the biggest pain I have had is losing two patients with small fibroids and menorrhagia that I was treating conservatively with OCPs, NSAIDS and watchful waiting first, instead of going the easy surgery way out. Both ended up getting hysterectomies by another doctor because at that point medical management failed, and the new doctor "looked good" by saying "Well it is obvious that your other doctor got things wrong and surgery will cure you."

Now you know how small town doctors feel when patients leave for the big city.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
