This has been my experience as well. My wife is the only female OB/GYN, not only in our group of 4, but also in our town of 10 docs. We have gained many patients that were looking for a woman, but since Lisa is scheduled so far out for routine matters, they generally agree to see one of the 3 guys. After they meet us, they are usually content to stay with us. Perhaps this is another of the benefits of mixed gender practices. I know that my wife bemoans the number of "somatic" patients she ends up seeing. She regards women that will "only see a woman", as a giant danger sign.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
