> EMTALA says you can't transfer her. I think greater than 4 cms is unstable I find it quite upsetting that a government regulation rather than a qualified physician defines who or what is stable for transport. There are some women who go three weeks at 4 cms. It should be the PHYSICIAN's decision and responsibility to weigh the risk and likelyhood of rapid delivery in transport versus the risk of delivering a preterm infant in a facility that is not well equiped to handle him/her - not EMTALA's. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
