Re: OC costsFrom: Harrison Sheld (hsheld@anv.net)Wed Jan 31 13:27:54 2001
I guess I didn't make the point clearly. Sorry. First, Does not anyone find it obscene that of the one dollar in taxation we send to Washington, 72 cents is overhead. What does it matter if the government pays 5 cents for a pack of birth control pills? Is it worth the inefficiencies of the bureaucracy, the red tape, the loss of freedom? Second, if your clinic gets birth control pills for $1.70/pack that's less than a pack of cigarettes or a big Mac. More than affordability seems to be the issue in mandating uiversal coverage for oral contraceptives. Am I wrong? Marilyn Ringst wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
