Re: Breast Feeding.. was Pitocin after cesarean deliveryFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comTue Jan 16 08:46:50 2001
In a message dated 1/16/01 8:53:52 AM, cherivh@home.com writes: << Lactation consultants will point out that the "puffing up" is more than a nuisance. The generalized edema affects the tissues of the breasts, as well. The edematous areola is less elastic and more difficult for the baby to grasp properly. Poor grasp leads to sore nipples and nipple trauma, milk supply problems, and can progress to abandonment of breastfeeding. The edema can also worsen early engorgement, which also affects all of the above, by a slightly different mechanism. >> So is anyone (still) using cabbage leaves for breast puffiness/engorgement? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
