Ron--

We do not keep depo in the office (or Rhogam either) for that very reason. We write the patient a script, let her pick it up, bring it in, and then we give the injection. If there is a problem, then we will try to get authorization from her insurance company. However, we do not foot the cost.

Incidentally, we have had some insurance companies refuse to pay for rhogam as being "medically unnecessary." In those cases we sent the woman to the hospital for it.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
