Re: Bic Pen---Foreign bodyFrom: Braun, R. Daniel (rbraun@iupui.edu)Sat Dec 23 12:35:09 2000
When I was a first year resident 1965. A pt. was admitted to psych service of hospital. On admitting exam 3rd year MS described banana shaped mass in LUQ. Resident said "Yeah Sure" 3 days later patient developed slight vaginal bleeding. Gyn consult obtained and revealed a ragged tear in posterior fornix. X-Ray revealed "Banana shaped object in LUQ. Explor. Lap revealed Plastic banana behind mesentery in LUQ. I learned two lessons: First always believe the "BMS" and second Foreign bodies that enter the pelvis thru the cul-de-sac migrate to the LUQ. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
