one point to consider is the variability in quality from laboratory to laboratory with regard to serum screens. also depends on the local incidence of Down's. the bottom line will be how sure will folks want to be. until such time as reliable and reproducible results can be obtained from analysis of fetal cells in maternal circulation, we are pretty much locked into this situation.
