Google "Levonova ectopic" <http://www.fhi.org/en/fp/fppubs/network/v20-1/nt2016.html>

IUS = Intra Uterine System (releasing levonorgestrel)

"Because the IUS is highly effective at preventing pregnancy in general, its use rarely is associated with ectopic pregnancies (estimated in one study to be one ectopic pregnancy in 5,000 woman-years). None occurred in a total of 3,416 woman-years of IUS use in the six-country Population Council study comparing the IUS with the Copper T380A. Similarly, no ectopic pregnancies occurred in 882 woman-years of IUS use in a three-year study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)."

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
