For Aetna members, parental peripheral blood chromosome analysis is a covered benefit when couples meet the generally accepted criteria for recurrent spontaneous abortion (3 or more consecutive spontaneous losses; Ref: Adashi/Rock/Rosenwaks, vol 2, p. 1477; Simpson, et al.; etc.). The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
