Re: Fetal electrode changesFrom: ainsron@msn.comThu Nov 16 01:51:17 2000
Well, get ready, because they will. The rule was supposed to take effect on 5/9/2000, but apparently they were given a reprieve until the 1st of October. As of that date, manufacturers can no longer ship the old style leads. They won't have to pry them from your "cold dead hands," they already cut off your hands, and they took our balls a few years ago too!! Seriously though, don't throw away your old leg plates because if you cut off the ends, the new ones work exactly the same. I'm sure our hospital risk managers will love us if we do that though. If you want to see the final guidance from the FDA, check out this link: <http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/comp/leadwire.html>

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
