Re: OB: AFP Triscreens in subsequent pregnancies

When I was at Einstein, one of our Genetic Counselors (Myrna Ben-Yishay) looked at the question of recurrent postive triple tests in subsequent pregnancies. She reported the data at one of the ASHG meetings (I can find the reference if you can't locate it). The results were suggestive, but not conclusive, so the study has not been published. (You might give her a call.)

It would be imprudent to counsel a patient to consider avoiding MMS simply because previous tests in previous pregnancies were "screen negative."

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
