a few casesFrom: CarynRybs@aol.comSun Oct 29 20:18:07 2000
Garry, Thanks for your comments... FYI << Would have been worth an intra-op phone call to the gyn onc next time if you were unsure about the appy. >> I did actually call our gyn onco intra-op and he recommended the appy- was surprised as it was not of the mucinous histology but obviously went ahead as he recommended it and I had consented her for it... was asking the group mainly because this wasn't the way I was trained and the latest review on borderlines- low malignant potential (you're right!) didn't recommend appy for the serous type... <<Boy, seems like the doc managing her at delivery should have gone for the placenta a wee bit sooner, given her obesity, fibroids, etc. Maybe it could have been manually removed (for the most part), with anesthesia, if needed.>> I agree 110%! was not real excited to get sign out on this one but I didn't raise a fuss mainly as I am the new kid on the block - try to see it as a learning opportunity... As a chief resident just a few months ago, I would have been quite vocal about the delay in appropriate mgmt had another resident left this for me but I stayed cool and decided to just take care of business and not let it get to me... I plan to do SIS when the hcg/placenta clears... Caryn

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
