I am a sinner.

Hate to think how many dinners have been my enjoyment with a cost of listening to a presentation from an expert from The Big Easy (New Orleans for all you folks from the other world). CME has been granted only after signing an evaluation sheet that includes acquiesence to the absence of conflict of interest by the speaker, who was paid $1000-1500 by the pharmaceutical house that paid for the dinner. To their credit, there is usually no table dancing provided.

In the vernacular: yeah, right.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
