Had a visit from my local Labcorp rep....From: Paul Prior MD (pprior@clover.net)Sat Sep 30 11:59:47 2000
Had asked her to come in to update me on what genetics studies they are now doing, as part of our initial discussion she brings up HPV typing on PAP smears. I am doing thin prep on all specimens (another story...) but she acts literally astounded that I'm not ordering reflexive HPV typing. After a discussion with her that I don't feel it would alter my management in most cases, she still acts as though I'm off my rocker. I got a real kick out of her performance. She really came across as though everyone else in my state is ordering it routinely. Maybe they are, don't know. The other thing I found interesting (and will consider using) is that she told me they are going to have GC and chlamydia testing that can be done off of thin-prep solution within a few months. Asked for sens/spec data, not provided yet. Just a few thoughts.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
