Re: ER ultrasoundsFrom: ainsron@msn.comThu Sep 14 14:51:24 2000
I think you also need a space in your guidelines for "I just want one now, don't second-guess me." I love it how the administration wants to have everything down to protocols and procedures which can go on ad nauseaum. If there are physicians who abuse the system, they should be dealt with individually. Don't you also have to include the Ob indications of R/O breech, twins, non-reactive NST for AFI, etc.? or are they just talking about ER, not L&D? >The OB department has been asked to come up with guidelines for emergent >ultrasound from the ER, versus those that can wait until the next day. > >We've decided that these need to be separated into pregnant and non-pregnant >patients. > >Pregnancy: Possible Ectopic > >Non-pregnant was separated into hemodynamically stable v. unstable > >Unstable: OR >Stable: r/o torsion > >Any others that y'all can think of? > >TIA > >Rick > >-- >Richard Chudacoff, MD >Chudacoff Obstetrics & Gynecology, PLLC > >15200 Southwest Freeway, #270 >Sugar Land, TX 77478 >Tel: 281-277-3900 >Fax: 281-277-3901 > >rchudacoff@mylinuxisp.com >Richard.Chudacoff@obgyn.net >********************************************************************** >Neither the confidentiality nor the integrity of this message >**********************************************************************

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
