I had the exact same situation, except a vacuum assisted delivery produced a baby tightly holding the cord. It makes me wonder how many stillbirths, or cases of cerebral palsy, are due to acute but prolonged cord compression. If anyone could prove this is a common antepartum event it would scare the hell out of pregnant women and their spouses, and perhaps scare malpractice lawyers even more.
