I'm finally getting around to reading "House of God." Came across a passage today that I though the list might enjoy. The intern has just started his ER rotation, and is facing his first young owman with abdominal pain. "What did I know about pain in the stomach? I'd had pain in the stomach, yes, but in a woman it's different: too many organs, and the same pain can stand for a decomposing tuna sandwich or a decomposing ectopic pregnancy that will kill in half an hour." They determine that it's appendicitis, to which a surgery resident comments, "THE ONLY WAY TO HEAL IS WITH COLD STEEL."

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
