>Where is she getting the alcohol to cause the gi tolerance to be that >poor? I had never heard this before, but when my mother was put on metronidazole for severe diverticulitis, the pharmacist told her not to have any vinegar....that it would cause the same reaction as alcohol. Now, I took metronidazole for a long time after coming back from South America with a nasty gi bug...and I am sure vinegar was not a problem for me, but this is what her pharmacist told her. Anyone else heard of vinegar causing antabuse-type reactions w/ flagyl?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
