I'm in a position of having to ask myself this very question. After years of pre and post-regulation practice in one Canadian province, I've relocated to another and because of bureaucratic wrangling -- there is not yet a smooth system for reciprocity of midwifery qualifications from one province to another -- I am teaching midwifery but not yet practising. A year without a pager is making me need to be very reflective about my desire to re-attach that miserable critter to my body. Love the work, loved being a pre-regulation midwife. Have loads of reasons why regulation is a good thing for midwifery - but having found midwifery as a healthcare profession survivor, find that the things that really attracted me to midwifery in the first place are quickly being replaced by all the things that I hated about being in hte system.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
