This is exactly the problem we have with the study being stopped early and not knowing why. Apparently our trainees have been convinced by rumours that it was because of the benefits of CS and it now seems to be assumed for exam purposes that LSCS is proven to be safer!

I wonder if the study was discontinued for the reason given. I understand that they had difficulty in getting centers and patients to participate...so much so, that they were thinking of stopping the study all together. Many centers did not want to participate, for one reason or another. For example, some centers did not participate because they "believed" in vaginal breech deliveries and did not want to perform cesareans just because of randomization; others "believed" in cesarean deliveries for all breech presentations and did not want to allocate a patient to the vaginal delivery group.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
