I want to do a little survey..

The answers are obviously individual to the patient in question, but in general, what does everyone give as a prescription and quantity for pain relief on discharge for the following:

1) vaginal delivery 2) cesarean section 3) abd hyst 4) vag hyst

For me:

1) vicodin 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 20 no refill or Tylenol # 3 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 20 no refill or motrin 800 q 8 prn #15 no refill 2) vicodin 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 25 1 refill or Tylenol # 3 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 25 1 refill 3) vicodin 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 25 1 refill or Tylenol # 3 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 25 1 refill 4) vicodin 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 20 1 refill or Tylenol # 3 1-2 q 3-4 prn # 20 1 refill

If allergic to codeine I would substitute darvocet or the like

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
