Daniel: "Re: Pain Medication" The #1 problem with excessive vicoden is not addiction but hepatotoxicity, which can happen with over 4gm daily. I actually had a patient who died 2 weeks post hysterectomy a few years ago. I had prescribed vicoden, plus she was getting them from other sources and taking OTC tylenol. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
