Re: Incarcerated uterusFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (jbulley@cheshire.net)Fri Jun 30 22:11:19 2000
The best treatment - from my series of about a half dozen - is to put the cath in for 3-7 days. The uterus resolves itself while the cath is in. I have never had to cath a second time. My 2 cents is that the growth of the uterus pushes itself out of the pelvis as long as the bladder is drained for a few days to a week. How did we decide when to take the cath out - Luck, I guess. None of those other maneuvers worked - whether for me or my older partners. Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
